The Simpson McCreath Trust awarded a generous grant to Tweedmouth Prior Park First School to help fund an experience trip for 27 local children.

The money, totaling £1,000, was used to send pupils from Year 4 on a residential visit to Ford Castle in order to ensure the trip was affordable for all participants.

Tweedmouth Prior Park First School Head Teacher Pauline Molloy said “This trip provided an invaluable experience for our pupils. Our school places high importance on personal development and it has been recognised that there is an increase in pupil’s social and emotional resilience after such a visit. By learning in the outdoors and spending nights away from home, our pupils are developing lifelong skills and attitudes that will build towards fit and healthy lives.

“A trip to Ford Castle has always been an excellent opportunity for pupils in previous years and we are so grateful to the Simpson McCreath Trust for providing such a generous donation.”

The Simpson McCreath Trust are always keen to support local projects that encourage children in the area, as Trust Board Member David McCreath OBE explains: “When Pauline, the Tweedmouth Prior Park First School Head Teacher, got in touch we were more than happy to help. We believe this money will go a long way in allowing children at the school to get involved with school activities without financial worries for their parents.

“It is important for us that we support local projects that will make a difference in the community and this trip will provide an invaluable experience for the Year 4s involved.”

The Simpson McCreath Trust supports a wide variety of organisations in the borough of Berwick-Upon-Tweed, particularly with small donations for specific local projects. Reflecting the interests of the trustees, the trust is particularly active in the areas of culture and sport.
