Simpsons Malt Award Long Service Accolades

Simpsons Malt and its subsidiaries, McCreath Simpson & Prentice (MSP) and John Guthrie, have awarded a number of its employees for long service – totaling 630 years – to the family owned business.

Among the 27 employees recognised at the ceremony, which took place at Queens Head Hotel in Berwick upon Tweed, were two members of the McCreath family, Simpsons Malt Managing Director Tim and MSP Fleet Manager David, who have given 20 and 30 years respectively to the business that is head quartered in the town.

Also working at the Tweed Valley Maltings, Operations Manager Ivan Goodwin and Jimmy Thompson Process Operator were awarded for 40 years service each.

Other staff members based at the Berwick-upon-Tweed HQ who were awarded were Susan Turnbull (30 years), Graeme Hogg (15 years), Andy Higson (20), Terry Carson (20), Alan Wightman (20), Steven Rowley (20), Mark Adam (20), Tom Hume (20), Darren Cromarty (20), Lee Mitchell (20), Wayne Donaghy (20). An additional five staff members were recognised: David Colville (15), Ivor Thompson (15), Stuart Lowrey (25) and Rarna Cuthbertson (25).

Based at the Tivetshall St Margaret Maltings in Norfolk Mark Daynes, Robert Knights, Marilyn Manser were awarded for their 20 years service, while Andrew Hall Maintenance Technician and Gary Day Site Manager celebrated 25 and 30 years respectively with the company.

From John Guthrie, the trading division based in Forfar, Rae Allcorn (20 years), Gary Johnston (20) and Margot Welsh (40) were all recognised for their contribution to the company covering a total of 80 years.

Commenting on the milestone for each of the employees, Chairman Simon Simpson OBE said: “We are proud of our dedicated team across Simpsons Malt, MS&P and John Guthrie and it gives us great pleasure to be able to pass on deserved acknowledgment to each of them for their valued contribution to the company.
