The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) has announced the appointment of Stuart Rae as its new Finance Manager.

Stuart joins from Buccleuch Estates, where he was Group Financial Controller for six years and latterly Finance Controller for Buccleuch’s energy projects.

A qualified chartered accountant, Stuart brings a wealth of experience from working within a number of industries during his career, both in the UK and overseas, including agriculture, property development and shipping.

Reporting to RHASS Chief Executive, Alan Laidlaw, Stuart will oversee the finances of all RHASS interests, which include the Royal Highland Show, the Royal Highland Centre and the Royal Highland Education Trust.

Stuart commented: “I am delighted to be joining such an established and highly respected organisation as RHASS at a time when there are so many opportunities to shape and grow the business to help fulfil its charitable remit.

“RHASS is a financially strong charity that has made some significant capital investments in recent years, enabling it to offer world class facilities and remain competitive in a fast-changing industry. I look forward to being part of their future success.”

Alan Laidlaw, RHASS Chief Executive adds, “Stuart is a great asset to the team and brings a commercial outlook that we need to take the business to a new level of operation.  He joins a highly skilled management team that strives to lead RHASS into a new era through innovation, creativity and know-how.”
