Hickory wins Small Venue of the Year Award for Dunglass Estate at Scottish Event Awards
Award winning Edinburgh caterer and event producer, Hickory, has scooped the Small Venue of the Year Award for its exclusive East Lothian wedding venue, Dunglass Estate, at The Drum Scottish Event Awards on Wednesday (5th Oct).
The Hickory team were in an enviable position going into the evening; their only competition in the Small Venue category was one of the company’s other exclusive venues, Eskmills Venue in Musselburgh.
The judges described Dunglass as a ‘beautiful and traditional historic estate with a wow factor that really sells itself well.’ They also commented on the quality of Hickory’s entry and how reading about Dunglass made them ‘really want to visit the venue.’
Hickory also received a commendation in the second category it was shortlisted in, The Green Award. As a Gold member of Green Tourism, the world’s largest sustainable certification programme, the company prides itself on its commitment to sustainability in all aspects of the business.
The win at the Scottish Event Awards comes on the back of a year of award successes for Hickory. It has been shortlisted for eight industry awards, including The Drum’s Content Marketing Awards for its gin bar at the Royal Highland Show, part of the Hickory Bars premium pop up bar offer, and Best Event Caterer at The Caterer’s Foodservice Catey Awards in London. Both of these are UK national awards.
Hickory Marketing Manager, Steph Stubbs, said: “It was a great feeling when we heard we’d been shortlisted for both venues. To have one of our venues nominated in one category is rewarding enough, but when you have two and they are the only ones in the category – that is pretty special.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the team for what we’ve achieved this year. We’ve added Assembly Rooms, the Gilmerton House and Broomhall House to our venue portfolio and we’re riding high on the back of some other pretty special contract wins, which we can announce shortly. We’re growing every day and love what we do – let’s see what the next year brings!”
