Family owned Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort near Broughty Ferry is set to host its first ever Santa’s Grotto this festive season, featuring some surprise guests that are sure to make the it a day to remember for the little ones – three of the resort’s tiny piglets.

Taking place on just three dates (19th,20th and 24th December) the festive themed grotto will see Santa Claus joined by his three little piglet helpers – Rudolph, Prancer and Dancer. Santa will be there to meet the children and hear their Christmas wishes as well as give them a small present of their own.

Rudolph the piglet was aptly named after he bumped his nose against a red fence that was being painted next to his pen. After this incident, Libby Forbes, Marketing Manager at the Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort, felt it was only fitting that he and his friends got the chance to be part of the upcoming Christmas festivities.

Libby said, “It may be a twist on the traditional, but children love animals and our piglets are particularly cute and entertaining. There’s every chance it could be chaos, but I think that adds to the charm! The pigs are a big part of the resort and our family farm, Omachie, so it’s only fitting that they get to be part of some of the fun.”

The Forbes of Kingennie Waterside restaurant will be offering grotto visitors tea/coffee and a mince pie for just £3.50, or for something more substantial there will be a delicious, pre-Christmas menu available from 12noon to 9pm until the 23rd of December.

Entry to the Forbes of Kingennie Christmas Grotto is £5 and opening times are 10am-3pm.
