Green Tourism Shortlisted for Prestigious Award

The ‘go to’ standard for sustainability, Green Tourism, has been shortlisted for a Global Good Awards UK in the hotly contested Environmental Behaviour Change category.

In its fourth year, the Global Good Awards celebrates organisations that are making strides towards a better world for people, the planet and the global economy.

The shortlisted organisation, Green Tourism is working to change the relationship between the tourism industry and the planet through support and pragmatic advice. Over the last 20 years, Green Tourism has presented over 5000 businesses with sustainable accreditation with a combined saving of 1 million tonnes of carbon, 5 million tonnes of water. In the last year over 40 million visitors visited a Green Tourism accredited business.

Andrea Nicholas, managing director of Green Tourism said: “These prestigious awards are a gold standard for sustainable businesses and therefore we are delighted to be shortlisted.

“We have been championing sustainability since Green Tourism was launched twenty years ago and our vision to support businesses on their green journey continues.  We have achieved so much already and this will be further supported by the launch of our new digital platform which will make the accreditation process accessible to many more businesses in the UK and internationally.”

“We’re delighted to see Green Tourism amongst so many new entrants this year” says Karen Sutton, founder of the Awards. “The judges have all remarked on the quality of the entries with some categories taking several hours for the judges to deliberate before deciding upon the results.”

The winner will be announced on 16th May 2018.
