Award Winning Farm Shop Welcomes New General Manager

HOPETOUN FARM SHOP

Hopetoun Farm Shop has appointed a new General Manager as it enters its fifth successful year of trading.

Marc Cherrie, from Morningside in Edinburgh, will take the reigns of the Hopetoun Farm Shop, which recently won a Gold Award at the Scotch Pie Championships for its mince and onion bridies and Best Energy and Environmental Business at the Queensferry Business Awards.

Marc, who joins from Sainsbury’s, is looking forward to making good use of his experience after 16 years working in the retail food industry.

A keen foodie, Marc is relishing the opportunity to work with Hopetoun Farm Shop’s locally sourced food, much of which comes from the Estate. He is also a keen chef coming second in STV’s Britain’s Best Dish programme in 2009.

On his appointment, Marc said: “Hopetoun Farm Shop has an incredible story to tell in terms of heritage and provenance. From honey and beef to eggs and game – the Estate is a brimming larder and with low food miles and award-winning produce, we can offer the consumer a unique quality food shopping experience.”

The 41 year old is also a passionate promoter of artisan producers and is hoping to increase the range of locally sourced produce on sale at the shop.

He is also a keep fit fanatic and is taking part in a Ninja Warrior programme on Challenge TV, which involves four stages of gruelling ‘ninja’ challenges, such as the ‘spider climb’ and the ‘cliff hanger’, each pushing contestants to their limits.

Marc concluded: “I have heard that the Hopetoun Farm Shop is a busy place, hopefully I will not be ‘climbing the walls’ – literally or metaphorically!”
